What are "Snakeskins"?
Snakeskins are
long, coyote brown-colored tubes
of fabric which reside at each end of the hammock and are permanently
kept on the main suspending
ropes. When it's time to put the
hammock away, they are slid down
onto the hammock and fly, resulting
in
a long thin "rope" of fabric - no more
folding, rolling, putting your hammock
on the muddy ground! This ropy
bundle can be placed inside the stuff
sack or wrapped around the outside
of your pack. When it's time to pitch
your hammock, simply attach the
suspending ropes to the trees with
the tree huggers and slide back the
snakeskins.
Snakeskins really shine when the clouds come out. In bad weather,
it's
best to have the rainfly folded and
rolled separately from the hammock
body,which is kept in the snakeskins.
When it's time to set up, attach
the suspending ropes to the trees,
then clip on and pitchthe rainfly.
When you slide back the snakekskins, your hammock will be dried underneath
the rainfly.
You can also use the Snakeskins during the day to tidy up your
camp by
enclosing your hammock in the Snakeskins.
