Jungle Camping
Dear Hennessy,
On behalf of our entire expedition team, I would like to thank you
for hammocks that we received for our Borneo special expedition.

We spent the of July travelling through the villages and jungle of
Sawarak, Borneo providing mental and dental care as well as first aid
training to members of the indigenous Kelalrt and Penan People. It
was a grueling four weeks - we were often on the move and spending
long days running the clinics, teaching and trekking. But by the end
of the month, we treated over 500 people! The problems we encountered
were varied and spanned anything from body aches and malnutrition,
to scabies, tuberculosis and maleria. The local people were so kind
and generous, and showed much gratitude for our presence. It was an
experience of a lifetime. We thank you so much for helping contribute
to what turned out to e a very successful expedition.
The hammock systems were amazing - perfect for use in the jungle or
in the village longhouses. They were easy to set up, comfortable, and
kept us bug free (which turned out to be essential as there was a malaria
outbreak while we were there). After a long day trekking through the
jungle or running a village clinic, it was nice to have a Hennessy
to come back to. I've included some pictures of the hammocks from the
expedition
we hope you'll enjoy. Thanks againn, we really appreciate it!

In a Village in the Amazon
A Wild Life Expedition (UK) amazed and bewildered
a family in the Amazon Rainforest when they strung
up Hennessy Hammocks in the rafters of their lodge.
They also used them as chairs during the day. |

Hey Tom
My name is Mike Gross and and I spoke to you about my hammock in the fall of 1999 before I left for a three month camping trip to Costa Rica. The trip was fantastic and I loved sleeping in my hammock! It took a couple of days to really figure out how to tie it to be the most comfortable but after that, no problems.
We ended up staying in Central America for five months and I slept in my hammock in Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras and Guatemala! I used it in campgrounds, on beaches, in trees (literally in one) and also in hotel rooms when they were cramped or the beds weren't comfortable. I showed off your hammock to travelers from all around the world (yes, they got your e-mail) who kept coming to talk to the gringo about the weird body bag he was sleeping in!
I just checked out your new models for this year, I really like the addition of a full Velcro closure. That was a problem in some really buggy parts, I always left my pack in the hammock when I wasn't in it and that helped a bit. Unfortunately, no pictures of the hammock really turned out. My camera broke when I got to Costa Rica and I had to pick up a cheap-o that didn't take the best shots, and to top it all off, in the last week of my trip I ran out of cash due to my overstay and a slight miscalculation of funds. Guess which piece of gear sold first? Sad story but the guy who got it was really excited and was going to take it off on another adventure.
Congratulations! After five months of me abusing my hammock there wasn't a stitch out of place! I plan on buying another before I try anything big like this again, and the yellow one is looking pretty cool. Thanks Tom!
